Money- one of the three topics you should never talk about in a bar (although many still do so).

Everyone has different viewpoints and experiences with it.

Personally, I believe that one of the most valuable skills you can learn in life is how to be smart with your money, and the younger you learn, the better.

Here are five tips about personal finance that I use to help me not only stay on track, but get ahead.

1. Get in the habit of checking your bank account more often

I try to do this every day, but at the very least I do it every other day. This allows me to see exact numbers of what’s going in and coming out.

It may also help you catch any unauthorized transactions sooner, should that ever happen.

2. Keep track of ALL of your income and spending each week

I do all this in the notes app on my phone. I have a tab called “Finance” and keep my income and spending each in a separate note in there.

I need to always be conscious of these two things since I’m self-employed and my weekly income often changes.
